Iranian national team training camp was stopped due to coronavirus cases
The Iranian Football Federation has decided to suspend the national team's training after detecting Covid-19 cases among football players. It was reported by the Tehran Times.
Despite the country's overall positive recovery dynamics, it is suspected that new infections in the national beach soccer team are caused by a new strain of coronavirus. Therefore, the decision to suspend the training process was made immediately.
According to the Ministry of Health of Iran, Sima Sadat Lari, all new cases of infection are carefully monitored to timely detect new foci of the spread of the virus.
The Iranian national team is ranked 7th in the Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) global ranking. Among the countries participating in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Iranian team ranks second after the Japanese national team. Iran is one of the contenders for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2021 following the 2021 Asian Cup's cancellation in Thailand, which was supposed to be a qualifying tournament for the world championship.
