The Campeonato Uruguayo Femenino 2021 kicked off with two matches in playa Pocitos in the capital, Montevideo.
In the first game, Los Halcones beat Boston River 5-4 in extra time, while in the second, Wanderers beat Fénix by the same result in normal time. Danube had a free date.
On this historic day for Uruguayan beach soccer, Cra. Andrea Lanfranco, a member of the AUF Executive Committee, was in attendance, along with the Director of Development, Gustavo Bañales, and the president of the Football Commission of the discipline, Kevork Kouyoumdjian.
The next matchday will be on Friday 5 March.
It is the first edition of the competition organised by the AUF, and it is supported by the Evolution program of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol).
The first stage of the championship will be played in a round-robin format, whereby the five clubs will each play each other once. Then the best four teams will qualify for the semi-finals.
The winners will compete in the final of the contest on Saturday 27 March. A play-off will also be played for third place.
