Asian Beach Soccer Cup, which is also a qualifying tournament for the World Cup, finished in Thailand. In the final game the Japanese team beat the UAE in penalty shootout.
In the middle of the first period Masayuki Komaki sent the ball into the empty net after he got it from Susey Yamauchi. After the break Ozu Moreira scored the second goal with a long-range shot, but in the end of the second 12-minute period Ali Mohammadi scored twice and regained the balance. Spectators did not witness any more goals before the penalty shootout. The Japanese scored three times, and the UAE team implemented only one shot from seven-meter distance.
This success allowed Japan to become the first team to win the Asian Beach Soccer Cup three times. Previously, the Japanese were the best in 2009 and 2011. It should be noted that both finalists will represent the continent at the World Cup along with the Oman national team.
