The NDTV Beach Soccer Cup, traditionally held in the Brazilian city of São Francisco do Sul, has been canceled due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in Santa Catarina. It was reported by the ND Plus.
The move was taken by the city's Sports Department and aimed to protect athletes, managers, and the entire community involved in the events, as São Francisco do Sul is in the red danger zone on the risk map published by the state government.
"I am very sorry that this event had to be canceled, but now is the time to protect and care for those we love. I am confident that in the coming year, we will celebrate the victory over the virus together and will hold all our traditional tournaments," — announced Department of Sports secretary Edson Rita.
The NDTV Beach Soccer Cup is South Brazil's largest beach soccer competition.
