The traditional Valentine Player ID Cup was held this weekend at Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida. It is reported by the Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) official website.
The competition was organized by the National Beach Soccer. Four men’s and four women’s teams took part in the tournament. The teams were divided by color: “Pink”, “Yellow”, “Green” and “Blue” and based on the players of the USA national teams: Lauren Leslie, Christi Yount, and Luisa Mesa from the women’s US national team, as well as Lucas Roque, David Mondragon, and Gabriel Silveira from the men’s team.
Head Coach of both the men’s and women’s US beach soccer national teams, Francis Farberoff, was at the event scouting for the USA’s latest beach soccer talent ahead of the coming season. He was also the head coach of both Blue teams, who won the tournament.
US beach soccer international Gabriel Silveira lead the blue men’s team to victory and collected both the MVP and Top Scorer awards. Jose Sorto won Best Goalkeeper, and Martin Grimson took the Rising Star award.
The Women’s Blues was led by Ashley Tripplet, who won the MVP, and the Top Scorer went to Karina Cisneros. The Best Goalkeeper was Vanessa Osorio, and Braeden Small won the Rising Star award.
The Valentine Player ID Cup's main goal is to find and train new players for the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualification.
